I would wait for HV to post, not every herb should be made into a tincture. That aside, 80 proof (40%) ethanol, or higher, is used for making tinctures. Most vodkas are 8O proof. I use 190 proof Everclear and dilute to down about 90 proof. There is an extremely high markup on commercial tintures, and you can save good deal of money making your tinctures at home.
