Re: labs NOT what i expected?!
I'll see what I can make. From my own testing, journaling and experience.
The first time I had the 4x day saliva test on cortisol the results came back semi normal, but a bit high. 10 years ago in my phase so called stage 2 of AF, my morning cortisol was "1" next to nothing.
THe pst 2 years, on 2 occassions, blood tests, showed high cortisol, yet I was so horribly weak all the time and low blood
Sugar attacks, which is more patternized with low cortisol, because it is a fact that low cortisol goes with low blood
Sugar and high cortisol with higher blood sugar. I know this, to because I've taken my blood
Sugar reading regularily for the past 20 years, being hypoglycemic.
So, I do not put a whole lot of confirmation in tests, becaue to these hormones can fluctuate drastically just as blood pressure and glucose can fluctuate all the time. If you eat a heavily laden meal of carbs, your blood sugar will be high 1-2 hours later. If you are under stress or a crisis, your blood pressure and cortisol will go up.
I can feel crappy if my blood sugar levels are in normal range even.
So, symptoms seem to outweigh on the norm ( not all the time) I am not dismissing testing at all. But, having done so, has helped me to know my body.
A mojor stress like moving, divorce, etc. diffinately sets one way back. it has for myself.
Also, I always felt worse during my periods when I had them. ( I've been on hormones since my hysterectomy years ago), but I do remember feeling more hot, moody anxeious than, this is because during this time each month estrogen and progesterone are almost null. The adrenal glands are supposed to help out like a back up system during this time. I think this is why some women who don't have PMS symptoms have healthier adfenals.
A good read it to get the book by Dr. John Lee, What your Doctor May Not Tell you about Progesterone.
