Hello Bluelight09,

To activate sodium chlorite you add an acid. This forms chlorous acid.

Adding an acid to water doesn't raise the PH.

To raise the PH of water, you need to add sodium chlorite. If the PH raises quickly, you most likely have impurities in your sodium chlorite.
