Almonds are high in magnesium, this is one possibility. You might be deficient in magnesium, or another mineral in them.
Vitamin E is another, since they are high in that as well. I was having daydreams of almond butter a while back and when I started taking a vitamin E supplement those cravings completely went away.
Exaggerated insulin response is another possibility because I know personally I can't stop eating nut butters once I start. Even Hemp butter which has .5 grams of carbs every 2 tablespoons is too much.
