Update to pass on to Unyquity Re: Answers to Questions for water01 and Uny

healthmonkey,

I am adding this PM I received from you as you requested. You should always post additional information/questions yourself so Unyquity can easily pull all your information together by searching your ID/Username.

Just wanted to pass along an update for Unyquity...you can add it to the questionnaire, so that she has this info as well.

Just came back from the Doc's office...that was interesting.

The blood work for my kidneys shows everything is normal. He was adamant that the lower back pain was not from the drug. He says that zyvox is not hard on the kidneys, although if zyvox had not worked, the the hospital IV drip *is* hard on the kidneys.

He has two theories:
1. I sprained my back, and the timing was coincidental. This is what he thinks probably happened.
2. There is a slight chance that the bacteria, or a piece of it, bound itself to the antibody fighting it. This would end up sort of clogging up the filtration system, or it would at least be in the kidney still. This creates a second antibody, because the bug still needs to be fought. He said this situation can irritate the kidneys.

He thinks that regardless, the pain should clear up on it's own accord (although I could take Aleve now if I wanted).

I have a hard time buying the sprained back theory, because it just hasn't felt like a sprained back. I could be wrong, but I don't think that's it. The pain has eased a little in the last couple of days, but it's still there. Regardless of the cause, this has scared the heck out me. If my back ever get's back to feeling normal, I'll feel like a deathrow inmate who just received a pardon...a second chance.

Also, I can assure you that I am studying more and not wasting my time. I've been in the middle of working on a master's degree (in Project Management), besides having a son who's a HS senior trying to get into college with everything that entails, and my day job...with my health issues to deal with. It's been pretty hectic...too much so.

Anyway, thanks for your help.
