Re: Effect of n-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) on candida and mercury?
I bought a Heavy Metal Detox set by Renew Life, which contains like 20 ingredients, one of which is NAC - though at 50mg instead of 500mg. It also contains garlic.
Now, if something is 1/10 the strength of what I took in terms of what it does to yeast, and it's removing mercury in the process, I can tolerate that. I've read about people who had yeast flare-ups every time they made progress in removing mercury, but each time the flare-up wasn't as bad, until the mercury - and yeast - was gone.
So I'll stop taking the NAC by itself (500mg capsules), but I intend to take a heavy metal detox kit of some sort, even if it contains NAC.
Heck, ALA (an omega-3 acid) gives me headaches, but this kit contains only 20mg of it - and it may be worth it, especially if the headaches are actually due to mercury redistribution (and the other ingredients, the chelating ones, will prevent that by pulling it out instead).
