Re: dry fasting works!
Hey there Pamela, nicely done.
I've also been dry fasting daily for about 16 hours over the past 6 weeks or so and believe i may have embraced it as a lifestyle.
I actually fast mornings instead of evenings and eat until about 2 hours before bed time. My reason for this preference is that my appetite is generally a lot tougher to resist later in the day than it is early, which for me is quite easy, especially after about 3 days of acclimating which trained my body to anticipate this schedule and be happy with it.
Thirst hasn't been any kind of an issue thus far and during the 8 hour feeding window i do drink a fair amount of herbal & green tea and get more water through a lot of veg and fruit.
My longest dry fast was 3.5 days about 3 months ago. That actually turned out to be too long in my unique situation and i really should have stopped at 2 or 2.5 days when thirst became moderate to strong and quite persistent. Nevertheless i was experimenting (cautiously i felt) and curious to see if my body would adapt and the thirst would relent... which it didn't. I don't plan to resist heavy thirst again, but with enough comfortable training perhaps my body will become better at this :].
