Thanks for your response to my question. I do not have a microscope yet so I was wondering if I might ask another along this path. I have read hair can be infected on the inside with fungus
"ENDOTHRIX - Arthroconidia formed inside a hair shaft. The cuticle of the hair remains intact."
two reasons I am thinking of this, most obvious, reasonable explanation for moving hairs... second, cotton is hollow so could textile fibers be infected on the inside and it appear normal to the microscope on the outside?
