Re: A simple free way to alkalinize the body
Yes, I am aware of what this site preaches in terms of proper breathing and health... and I agree with it. Thank you for sharing, so others can continue to learn.
Specifically the site's implications in the recycling of CO2 along with CO2 utilization and release.
Most people are chest and mouth breathers... which, can be a root cause of one or more of their health problems.
So... as a mouth and chest breather years ago, I began to slowly change my breathing habits to focus on breathing properly every day - nose and diaphragmatic breathing.
Most people are so vain, they can not breathe with the diaphragm regularly due to the expansion of the belly when doing so - and their overly tight clothing prevents it even if they wanted to... their loss.
That said... here is another *monkey wrench* thrown in for you...
Many doctors have begun to believe, some very passionately, that the stomach's cells primary function is to produce bicarbonate and that HCL is the byproduct rather than it being the other way around.
With, strong clinical research to back up their beliefs.
It could be, that through decades of very poor, chemically laden and processed acid foods, that this *belief* within their practices has come to be.
At any rate, if you believe that the stomach's cells primary function is to produce HCl for digestion, the production of HCl has a byproduct of bicarbonate.
So either way, it seems to work the same and the argument one way or the other is moot.
The rub?
The body will not produce HCl in sufficient quantities without the ability to produce bicarbonate, and vis versa.
My experience... with HCL was not a good one. A lot of *health gurus* and nutritionists tout HCl as the be all, end all to good digestion... but it was a disaster for me.
Bitters, which I tried nearly 7 - 8 years ago were also a bust for me.
And, I have had very noticeable, bad problems with salt flushing, chloride salt baths and using too much salt. Feeling tired and run down, experiencing edema, etc.
I do not have the same problem when using sodium bicarbonate... so, *I* found out *on my own* that my sensitivity was obviously with *chloride*.
Perhaps because of drinking chlorinated water growing up, competing on swimming teams for over 10 years in chlorinated pools and then swimming in them most of my life, taking salt tablets in Jr. High and then High school sports, eating processed foods with high salt content, etc.
Who knows?
Today, with the exception of the salted pastured butter I use, I do not cook with, and rarely salt my food any more. This was a more recent advancement in the understanding of *my* health.
What I discovered was that *if* I took small amounts of bicarbonate, similar to the *pinch of
Epsom Salts * with my meals, my digestive issues went away and I not only had better digestion, everything worked better, I felt better, etc.
Being *human* I pushed the envelope and took more, and more until my digestion *quit*... so a little was good, very good in fact, and more was obviously bad for me.
My working *theory* is that the small amount of bicarbonate, even with meals, was, and is stimulating my HCl production.
If this is true, and it pans out, I should, in time, find that I can eliminate the need for bicarbonate altogether once my body has rid itself of its excess Cl... if that is in fact the problem.
it is very difficult to guess about these things... and the tests used most frequently in doctor's offices are useless IMO for these kinds of things.
So in essence, we need to be our own doctors and not be afraid of experimentation as long as we do our research, and exercise simple, common sense.
