I don't know if I have adrenal fatigue, but wouldn't be surprised because of being sleep deprived due to a sleep disorder and being overworked. But I do know if I am, it's been since childhood. But when I read Hurd's book, she did mention some folks just naturally need more than 8 hours due to genetics, and some folks put out more adrenaline than normal people, again due to genetics. I think I fall into that category, since I see same symptoms with my siblings, and with my mother and aunt ... not sure about further back than that since grandma died when I was a child from breast cancer, but I wouldn't be surprised. So whether I just need more sleep due to genetics, am someone whose adrenal glands are on overdrive due to genetics, or am getting adrenal fatigue due to lifestyle or other health issues [or all of the above], I can say for sure it helps a lot getting a minimum of the 10 hours and resting at least 1 day a week.

It's also helping me using one of those "happy" lights that emit light similar to sunlight. I spend most of my waking hours in the office, so I know I'm not getting enough sunlight. I don't suffer from depression, but using the light 2-3 hours a day at my desk seems to fix mental fatigue and fog for me. Using it is new to me, as I've only had the light a couple months now, but I have confirmed for myself this week that it IS helping. The last couple weeks I missed using the light and was back to having no alertness and being over tired, and I returned to using it this week and the alertness is back. When I'm using the light at the office for 2-3 hours in the morning or very early afternoon, I sleep better at night, too, which for me is a miracle.
