Re: Day 3 of 7-day water fast
Thank you for emphasising that ;)
And thank you for your concern, ALB- I am well aware that my weight is low, but I have been slim all my life and it does run in the family. No one has expressed concern about my weight because I've always been this way- and keep in mind I am only 19, so it is quite common to be thin when you have a young metabolism. I think body shape and fat distribution also make a big difference. I am not going to deny that some people who are 5'8" and 121
pounds may very well look underweight- it just isn't the case with me, and no one who knows me would describe me as such. (Also, since I'm used to the metric system, I'm hoping my conversion was correct- feel free to convert 55kgs to
pounds yourself just to make sure ;) I haven't weighed myself in a couple of months though- I'm just assuming it hasn't changed since all my clothes fit the same!)
However I do understand where you're coming from, and let me assure you that losing weight is the last thing on my mind, and I do hope to actually gain some after this is over.
Which brings me to my next point- I have in fact decided to cut the fast short. Mainly because my mum is coming to visit me in a couple of days, and I would like to be able to go out for lunch with her and have enough energy to enjoy our time together, since it's pretty rare for me to see her. I'm also starting to feel that four days is enough. Perhaps it does have something to do with the fact that I have very little in the way of fat reserves, but I think that seven days would not be right for me. And this way I'll have energy for work, too :P My mental clarity has improved since day 2, but I am still very weak and lethargic, and I think I'm ready to transition back into healthy eating (and worry, not, ALB- I know the difference between healthy eating and "dieting"). As far as I can tell from what I've read, the most important thing is to listen to your body. Since ketosis is not what I want- rather just some clarity and perspective in my eating habits- I believe this fast has done its job.
So I'll be breaking the fast tonight with some juice, followed by fresh fruit, juices etc. tomorrow, and working my way back up to solid meals. Even though it's only been four days, I do feel I've gained the insight I needed.
Can't wait for that first sip of juice tonight though ;)
