Re: Day 13 begins...
I know...I used to have one - the old style with the metal top. I LOVED it bunches. However it's way out of my price range now sad to say. Unless I happen across another person with one for sale cheap I'll have to settle for a blender. I'm looking at the kithenaid one - the reviews on Amazon look promising.
In the meantime from past "refeeding" I also feel for me - I need to avoid the fruits at first. I have a high craving for all sugars and when I'm "clean" from a fast a banana is way too much
Sugar for me.
I do feel simple veggie and green smoothies will be the best thing to start. The simpler the better. I would like to start with only one or two ingredients. I also have to avoid tomatoes at first...and likely eat them only minimally and only raw in the future. This I say with great sadness as they are one of my favorites...and at the end of every fast I am craving them. Once I start on them I end up drinking veggie drinks with tomato and could drink a
quart a day. Not a good thing.
When my children were infants I started them all out on veggies I smashed up myself. I knew they would like the fruits - so that would not be an issue. I wanted them to first develop a love for the veggies. They all did and have continued to love them. I am treating my "infant" state post fast in the same manner. Starting with veggies and greens I wouldn't normally select - which are, in fact much better for me.
I wish I knew the leafy green stuff my gardening neighbor used to have. He grew it every year and let me eat as much as I wanted from his garden. I remember they were leaves...like a lettuce type of leaf...darker green. They did not grow in a "head" at all. The taste was like a sour apple/lemon taste. It was heavenly. I would imagine they would enhance a smoothie quite a bit. Any idea what it was?
