Re: Do Digestive (Proteolytic) enzymes kill intestinal worms?

Yes and it definitely makes sense. It is the rationale behind the pineapple cleanse - fresh pineapple and papaya both contain proteolytic enzymes.

Pineapple worked for me - I ate nothing but pineapple for 2 sets of five days (I ate normally for a day in between). Tapeworms are attracted to the sweetness of the pineapple but the enzymes destroy their protection from human digestive juices.

As for enzyme tablets, I believe the recommendation is to take them between meals so that they are not 'wasted' on food sources of protein.

I would add I can't believe there are as many enzymes in a tablet as a fresh pineapple, I don't think they would have made any noticeable difference for me.
