Crow/Raven bring messages, but not necessarily negative!
They are killing themselves trying to get through to him, but not to harm him. This is the generalized lore passed around - that they are harbingers of evil. Rather than fearing the message, look at the messengers differently and find what the subconscious is attempting to bring into consciousness that he is unwilling to allow.
