I've found that castor oil packs are great anywhere to reduce inflammation and help the body heal.
Cold is a natural pain reliever anyone can use on the spine. Moist heat helps with inflammation. Alternating hot and cold will get the blood circulating as well as exercising as you can. Bouncing a little on a big ball or just rocking in a rocking chair will get the lymph moving. If you can't do that and are in bed, then just plantar and dorsifex your feet, as that will move the lymph. Point your toes down as far as you can, then bring your foot (toes)up towards your shin bones, and do this repeatedly as you can.
