I agree Fledgling, the amount of plastic in our world is frightening. I like your idea about boats netting up plastic rubbish, there could be collection points at every port, which takes the plastic away to be recycled.
One of the best ways of stopping the plastic pollution, is for all of us, meaning all of us humans that live on this planet, could simply stop buying it, where ever possible.
A huge amount of waste could be saved, if there were no more plastic, single use, bottles of water or other drinks.
Packaging is also a terrible waste, but companies will not stop wrapping everything in plastic, unless we as consumers demand they stop. If we refused to buy the products that had lots of plastic packaging, the companies would change to more environmentally friendly packaging, in an eye blink.
Good points on fish. Farmed fish is fine, as long as they don't mess around with the genetics, or feed them chemicals.
There is a lot of research going on in Australia, in regards to sustainable and clean fish farming.
