Re: Good old thread on calcium

For me, Dr. Abraham's statement about not megadosing calcium, 2-3 grams, has always been critical. I don't recall -- and so, it might have happened -- that he ever said, "Take no supplemental calcium. Take only magnesium." Apparently I don't have enough calcium in my diet, and I have to have some supplemental in order to balance the magnesium. If I have either too little or too much, I wake up regular as an alarm clock between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., when Dr. Olree said calcium was regenerating. I have been endlessly annoyed by awakening at various times during the night, and eventually made a cheat sheet to clue me in on how I was going wrong THIS time, based on his "Minerals for the Genetic Code." I've noticed that as iodine and vitamin D and vitamin K levels are stabilizing, my calcium needs are diminishing. I get about 300 mg from whey protein, and take another 200 mg calcium lactate, which works for me. I've taken as much as 700 mg supplemental calcium. In general I've needed less calcium the more iodine and vitamin K I took, whereas vitamin D at first "demanded" more calcium, and now has set it free. I take 500 mg magnesium citrate and 3 mg boron, but I've used as much as 12 mg boron in the past. Right now, that much wires my nervous system.

I believe the body will always trump any of the best advice anybody has to offer. Understanding its need, being spoken in ancient, organic language, is the kicker. And the joy, when I have the "ah ha!" moment.  :)
