True hunger comes in if you are pretty much thru your reserves of fat and now dipping deep into other things muscle tissue, etc. If you still have pretty good bodyfat then its likely just mental hunger. But mental hunger really is just that your stomach feels fine.

I had no physical hunger for like 31 days on water, and none for the rest of my 40 days total fast which was 3 on juice, 2 on water and 4 on juice. Even after the fast ending and started refeeding my hunger levels and ability to eat a lot of food was pretty reduced. And now 12 days later still find it easy to skip breakfast every day since the fast and do intermittent 24 hour fasting twice a week as well. And not eating heavy either. And doing exercise as well.

So again if you give your starting weight and height and bodyfat if you know it then would have pretty good idea if its true hunger or not. If its true hunger then good sign to break the fast.If its mental then you can keep going.

I also watched and was pretty mentally obsessed with food on my fast.I bought new cookbooks even ,on sale but still..LOL I searched recipes on the net and looked up menus of local and national restaurants.
But I just told myself that would eat that stuff post fast.
And after awhile could sit down at table and not even phaze me when kids ate their meals. Wife was fasting alongside me for most of my fast. She did 28 days but on juice no water.

People on here call it juice feasting not true fasting but whatever thats their opinion.

So back to you true hunger maybe but only if you are already very thin.True hunger is the bodies way of telling you that you are going deep into your reserves and starting to eat itself up. To clarify. In studies of hunger striking prisoners, prisoners at 15% bodyfat on Water Fasting started dying around 60 days. So if you were 5% or female they need more essential fat you might start dying at 20 days. Fat is there for a reason.It helps people survive conditions of no food. When bodyfat gets too low then you have starvation not fasting.
