Our states each have a governor and a legislature. Our system sounds similar to Australia's. But our country tends to be divided into so-called red states and blue states, red being conservative and blue being progressive. I live in Florida, which is a red state. Our state just elected an ultra right wing nut for governor. He is already making disastrous decisions that will have a terrible impact on Florida. My daughter has one-and-a-half years of high school left. I've only stayed here so that my kids wouldn't have to move, leave school, etc. But once she is done, we're going to do all we can to move.
