Re: Anti-depressants

What are the best and most effective drugs for depression and the ones with the least side effects?

NONE!!!  The antidepressant class of drugs have more side effects than any other drug class.  Among these side effects are SEVERE suicidal depression, especially within the first few weeks of use.

Furthermore, there are so many different causes of depression.  Low serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, norepinephrine, prostaglandins, cholesterol, thyroid, etc.  High prolactin levels, nutritional deficiencies, medications, etc. are other potential causes.  Antidepressant drugs address only a couple of neurotransmitters, and DO NOT address most causes of depression.

If I were to go with a single supplement for neurotransmitters I would go with TMG.  If this does not help then it is not likely a neurotransmitter issue.

Hormones and thyroid would be the next things to look at.

Natural B vitamin sources are great for the nervous system and for hormone balance.
