find your eggs as close to the source as possible... if you can have your own chickens, do it.
Barring that, a local farmer that raises them free range where they can eat bugs to the hearts content would be second choice... a homeowner who raises their own and has extra to sell, would be a possibility as a second choice, farmers market with a trusted vendor fourth, then free range, organic, store bought last.
You will get far and away fresher, more nutrient dense eggs in every case in my experience.
They should be fine raw. I have never had an issue. It is the store bought big production operation *commercial* eggs that are causing the issues you speak of.
