Re: Can you have too much stevia?
I posted my experience with stevia, which I have used constantly since 1994, on the forum about Low Blood Pressure and stevia.
For the last 2˝ years, I have had pain in my feet - the bottoms, around the ball of the foot below the toes. It was so severe that it almost crippled me sometimes. I attributed it to my shoes, but changing to all-leather, all-natural, reverse-heel footwear did not lessen the pain.
Neither did soaking my feet, rubbing herb-laden creams on them, or any of the other many, many remedies I tried.
One by one, I eliminated things in my diet that I eat on a regular basis - except - stevia. I did not even suspect that stevia might be the culprit.
The stevia powder I used was pure, 100% refined stevia - no additives. I completely eliminated it, on the 14th of January, 2011 - 3 days ago. Obviously, it is too early to tell if that was the problem, however, my foot pain has lessened, and I can actually put my bare feet on concrete without almost crying with the pain.
After searching the Internet, I found a few references to others experience with stevia and foot pain, and found that I am not alone.
To say that I am greatly disappointed to find a link to stevia and foot pain, is an understatement, as I used it many times a day - every day - for years. For me, it was a calorie-free, easy, concentrated way to sweeten my coffee. I shall keep everyone posted on my progress; it has only been a few days. If indeed, stevia is the perpetrator of the pain on the bottom of my feet, and eliminating it brings about relief - it is vital to share that with others who may never have made the connection.
