Ascorbic acid is Hydrogen ascorbate and like mineral ascorbates such as MgAscorbate, CaAscorbate will dissociate in water into a cation (H+) and anion ascorbate(C6H7O6-). You still wind up with anion ascorbate with a negative charge so I am not sure if it will penetrate skin.
Dr J Wright suggests using a penetration enhancer such as DMSO to carry the vit C in.
Anyone know a good penetration enhancer.
Dehydroascorbate is made in your gut. It is simply oxidized ascorbic acid. I suspect if you left ascorbate in solution exposed to air it would oxidize into dehydro ascorbate.
