Excellent post, I totally agree with all that Max is saying.

As for Australia, there have already been a lot of protests because of the arrest of Julian Assange, and the way the current government, and opposition, are treating this case, and WikiLeaks.

I do not think they will get away with trying to censor the internet, they've already floated the idea of an ISP filter, supposedly to stop child p 0 r n o g r a p h y, but in fact it would be used to censor sites like Wikileaks. WikiLeaks, leaked the supposed "black list" of banned sites, and people saw that the government was trying to shut down political dissent, and sites that had nothing to do with criminal activity, or child p 0 r n o g r a p h y.

The internet filter idea, has been shelved. Maybe its our history once being a penal colony, but many people here are quite happy to engage in protest and civil disobedience. They can't arrest everyone, and sometimes its a case of getting into the system and setting the termites free.
