Scientists have know for a long time that life can exist under extreme conditions, this is just a new environment that has been discovered, where life can exist.

I fail to see how this is a lack of imagination, scientists report facts, they can imagine theories, but theories remain just that, until evidence is provided to prove or disprove a theory.

I personally think that this is an exciting discovery, which opens up many other avenues of research. I prefer the facts, if I want non-factual imaginings, I'll read a novel.
