Update on my iodine journey (long)
Just for an update (I love when people post theirs so I try to get on and post mine)
Have been taking the
Iodine for about 14 months but it took a long time to build up to where I am due to bad detox in the beginning.
I am currently taking the following:
9 drops of lugol's
2,000 miligrams of vitamin C twice a day (equal to 4000)
200 selenium
magnesium malate 2x a day
1 teas. high fermented cod liver oil
b-complex
1 milk thistle capsule
acidopholus upon waking with a full glass of water
salt load with 1/4 teas. of
Sea Salt after the iodine
I take an
Epsom Salt bath twice a week and have been eating home grown sprouts (I bought a sprouting machine thanks Wombat) and if I have enought sprouts I don't take the b-complex as they are loaded with b's.
Another thing is I rebound for 30 minutes every day and walk my dogs for another 30 minutes so I am really helping the detox. The rebounding has been key for keeping the detox symptoms at bay.
Health benefits:
* Overall my health has improved tremendously.
* I sleep like a baby and never wake up anymore.
* bowel movements are perfect and almost after every meal....before
Iodine needed to take something to make me go. I would never go without assistance.
* My breast do not hurt at all ...before
Iodine could not wear a bra before my period.
* Period cramps are almost non-existance and very little clotting ....before iodine was up all night for 3 nights with horrendous bleeding and cramping (sorry if TMI)
* No headaches before period or after period....before iodine would get terrible headaches
* Emotionally feel very even kiltered....before iodine would get depressed sometimes and anxiety as well. Non of that now.
* I have so much energy that all the time. Never feel tired.
Things still there and hope my body is addressing:
* anemia ....I assume this is due to my hypothyroid. Have been anemic for most of my life and the only symptom is the urge to chew ice some time and a weird sensation in my mouth. Otherwise I am not tired anymore and my hair never comes out like it used to. I am addressing this with eating iron rich foods. I try to have an artichoke 3 times a week, calves liver once a week and eat figs and things high in iron. I take a tab. of black strap molasses once a day. Anemia seems to be common amoung people dealing with thyroid. I think all this is helping.
* gas ...this might be due to the tram flap surgery I had 14 years ago as the stomach muscles are not holding things in place like they should so I am not sure of the cause.
Although maybe the iodine is killing all the baddies...not sure.
My diet is very clean. Again, I eat fresh sprouts, most mornings I have an egg with breakfast or sprouted bread, lunch I will eat a beet salad, or some other healthy salad and dinner I cook every night so it is usually organic chicken or beef with a vegetable. I also cook a lot of soups and all organic. I try to visit the farmers market to get food that is in season.
I have just ordered Trappers
SSKI with magnets to give that a try. This way I will change it up a bit!
I hope that helps someone who is trying the protocol and not knowing what to expect.
