No the removal is not dangerous, special precautions as cited in these forums is not backed by Science and is a waste of your money. The water spray coming from the high speed drill keeps the Amalgam cool and little mercury vapor is released. You can even swallow chunks of drill tailings and they will harmlessly pass right through you locked into amalgam. The real danger of Amalgams is the continual and cumulative low dose daily vapor release when chewing, they should all be removed but a standard dentist will do it just fine.
