I mean amazed in the way that I am stunned by the intelligence and ingenuity of people, all people, and this fills me with joy. I am constantly amazed at what people can achieve, under adverse circumstances. This is in no way patronising, it is just a way of explaining my admiration.

In many ways the materially richer countries are the poorer, but the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
