Re: HCG Drops - Good or Bad?
James, it is HCG, not HGH. It's sure not human growth hormone! ;)
Right, sorry about that. I was getting pretty tired last night with posting and did not pay attention to what I was writing. Both are promoted for weight loss.
Trudeau was the one that really brought HCG to the public's attention. But the actual HCG shots also pose risks, although the calorie restriction with the HCG diet is more of a concern than the HCG itself. Homeopathic is different but I did not know if the were still advocating the 500 calories a day like they do with actual HCG shots or not, which is why I was asking about the changes in diet.
The diet is actually quite good ... protein, veggies, some fruit, even a few carbs. The original Dr. S plan does not include oil/fat because the hcg is triggering the body to burn fat [between 1500-2000 fat calories a day] so eating fat would be defeating the purpose. I added coconut/mct oil since it's used as a carb in the body instead of a fat. I also added a bit of fish oil daily without any problems and added up to 1,000 calories as well, although I vary the calorie limit too.
I felt better not using the real hormone, esp. when I discovered the homeopathic version worked just as well! I know you don't like 'fad' diets and usually I do not either. This has worked well for me and is 'doable' for me when nothing else has worked. Once the excess weight is off me, I plan to go back to a HEALTHY low carb lifestyle. Health is the most important thing to me.
The more weight that is dropped as well the easier it is to lose more weight in many cases since this will also decrease estrogen levels and insulin resistance.
Thanks for sharing.
