At the bottom of this debate is the religious belief that a foetus/zygote is a person at the point of conception. It is quite obvious that this is not the belief of many, and it is not the belief of those that choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.

This belief is at the core of this issue though, it comes down to the religious trying to make others conform to their belief on when a foetus/zygote, becomes a person.
