The father of this candidiasis syndrome, Dr. Truss, knew the problem is linked to immunity. What allows candida to overgrowth is a weak immune system. Whatever be the cause that suppress your immune system, must be found to end with the overgrowth. The worst case is HIV but anything that keep cell-mediated immunity compromised is enough to keep candida alive. It is also thought that candida itself can suppress the immune system to a serious point ( mannan, a substance found in candida's cell wall ) The pioneer Drs thought reducing candida levels allow the immune system to recover. It is true when the suppressor is candida alone but if there is another thing keeping cell-mediated immunity down, the game will be different.
