Re: Do I have a rare case of antibiotic resistance?

I too tried everything that you mentioned, to no avail. I finally did find something that got rid of BV for good and you are on the right track. It is PH. Just because your PH is normal doesn't mean it isn't a good PH for your BV. And it is important to know that I am not talking about vaginal PH. Because BV is a systematic problem, not a localized problem, even though it manifests itself in the vagina. So to fix the problem, you have to fix the root of the problem which is your whole body's PH.

To jump start this I researched the best thing to lower PH and that is baking soda. I started drinking baking soda water (8 oz water and 1/2 a teaspoon baking soda) first thing in the morning and right before going to bed. The important thing to know about doing this is that you have to drink it on an empty stomach. one hour before eating or 4 hours after. This is very important because if you interfere with the digestion of your food, other problems will arise. So after a month of religiously drinking baking soda water I hadn't had any more odor.

The most important part of altering your PH for good of course is your diet. I went online and researched the low acid diet online and found that the only food that actually lowers your PH is vegetables. Animal products like meat and dairy are very acidic, and grains and sugars are acidic. Ironically human's teeth are designed to eat meat and vegetables. Of course you can't live off of just vegetables and I don't think we are meant to give up meat because we have canines, but I found that as long as I eat more vegetables than I do meat that I am able to remain BV free. So every meal I eat a large salad with a wide variety of vegetables, organic because I believe toxins in our food also play a role in BV and all disease, and a small amount of organic meat.

A few things that I discovered that really set off my BV is alcohol, especially wine. One glass would bring back that odor. So I would take the baking soda water before I went to bed and in the morning and the odor would disappear again. So between the large amount of vegetables, a little meat, very little grain or Sugar and I cut out dairy because that set it off for me as well, I have been BV free now for over 6 months. I do take folic acid and a probiotic because they help other things as well, but I haven't had to douche or any vaginal inserts since I changed my diet and started the baking soda drink. I hope something that I suggested works for you too. Good health to you.
