Re: pupil test for adrenals
When i suspected low adrenal function, i did this test, and my pupils would not stay contracted and would fluctuate.
When i did this test the other day, they did not enlarge or fluctuate. I got this test from the Stopthethyroidmadness Website a couple of years ago. There is another one where you do temp laying down, then stand, and take temp, can't remember how to do exactly.
On your post you made an error i think.
"Norepinephrine contracts the pupils and acetylcholine contracts them. "
Which one dilates?
You are right, I did mess that up. It is corrected now. It is norepinephrine that dilates the pupil. This is considered the counter to acetylcholine, even though epinephrine and serotonin also dilate the pupil.
The point I was trying to get across though is that I am not saying the test does not work, but instead I am unsure about it since so real explanation has been presented about it and there are other factors involved. For example serotonin that also causes dilation and decreased pupil responsiveness due to a number of factors including age, drugs, nerve damage, etc.
