Re: radiation & cancer

This is a question I've had for a long time that I'm afraid to ask. But I realize the unknown is causing me worry and stress, and since I'm trying to rebuild adrenals, worry is counterproductive.

I had the Mirena removed November '09. Dr. couldn't find the strings. I had an X-ray which showed it was floating around in my uterus. Dr. ended up removing it with the help of a fluoroscope machine thing that was placed around my abdomen so he could watch on a screen as he located and removed it. But it was a good 15 minutes of effort before he was able to get it out. So I asked him afterward, how much radiation was I subjected to during that time? The equivalent of how many x-rays? He shrugged and said is was maybe only equivalent to 20-30 x-rays. I asked if I needed to worry about that, and he said no. But I do worry. How much greater is my risk? What can I do to prevent it? Can that kind of radiation damage heal? Like I said, it's the unknown that worries me. I sensed that he was trying to downplay my worry. I just want truth.

So, I've asked my scary question.

Thanks for any insight you have,
Diana

Hi Diana,

I would not worry too much.  There are herbs that can help with radiation damage, especially chaparral.  As to how much radiation you were exposed to he probably looked away because he was guessing.  But CT scans give you more radiation than what he claimed you received and I have not seen people having CT scans developing cancer right and left.  And you did not mention any radiation burns, so it does not sound like you were excessively exposed.  So don't worry, but keep up with your antioxidants, especially chaparral if you have any.

James
