I agree with all that, except maybe the last part, if you are saying that atonement is in the future. I believe for those already regenerated, or born again, atonement has already occurred.

I also know when Jesus died, a new covenant came into effect.

And after that Paul talked about not letting people judge you about the holy days, sabbath, etc. Because people wanted to hold onto the old way, the old covenant.
