Re: Herbert Shelton had "Parkinson disease" why ?
Golthing,
First and foremost I respect your personal Christian beliefs as I would with anyone else who is of any particular religious persuasion/denomination and faith.
I do not hold any particular faith myself although being born into the Christian tradition from an early age.
In my experience of the Bible any topic or subject can literally mean what you want it to mean, and translate it to suit any point of view.
For example..........
In the King James Bible.
"When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance".
By definition then Christ came to call sinners to repentance and not the righteous. This assumes that there are righteous people amongst us who therefore do not need to be called.
Another major issue for me is for those people who lived before the time of Christ. Are they saved if the only way to eternal life is through Jesus Christ?
To my mind, the loving God spoken of in the Bible falls short when allowing young Children to die of cancer and other degenerative terminal diseases, and if this is accompanied with the enormous global suffering and pain inflicted upon humanity as a whole, I would rather adhere to my benevolent and humanitarian agnosticism, and confront my God on the possible day of judgment and ask: why?
