Indoor Device to Keep Track of Power Usage

Hi Everyone,

After recieveing my current electricity bill, my attentions drew to what I could do within my home to be more aware of power usage.

One idea would to have a device that recieves the reading information of the electricty box that is located outisde, and have that device mounted in an area that is most frequently occupied, say the kitchen, where I would be more inclined to read and keep track of my power usage.

By understanding the amount of money per unit, then adding all units used in a day, this would keep exact track of money spent on power. This would certainly be an incentive to be more aware on switching off lights, appliances, heaters, anything basically that requires electricity, that dont need to be on.
