Valtrex isn't working for my genital herpes

Hello everyone,

I'll try to keep this short lol so I was diagnosed with Genital Herpes after going to the docs for some vaginal itchiness, redness as well as on my anus.

Well this "issue" has been going on for about 5 months now. At first it was only near my anus so my doc prescribed me a hemorrhoid ointment and all the itchiness went away and I was fine! But once I stopped using the ointment it came back but 10 times worse. So I went back and again he gave me a different hemorrhoid ointment and again it went away but once it ran out it came back. So then I got tested and they found I had genital herpes and gave me an anti-viral 7 day medicine as well as Valtrex to take when I get another outbreak. Well I took the 7 day medication and it didn't help. I saw my first bumps show up and then turn into small sores.

From everything I've read I know everyone is different but they're not even that painful... it's more of an annoyance than anything and if your first outbreak is the worst then this is it? Really? Once the medication was out and my bumps were still there I got the Valtrex.

Well for almost 3 months now I have this ENDLESS cycle of getting itchy, getting bumps, them turning into small sores, having them for about a week, them healing and me being fine, them coming back that same day.

I went back to my doc and told him nothing is working and he referred me to a colon specialist and I just had a colonoscopy done to make sure it's nothing up there. I will get the results for that in a few days but I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen to them.

I just really doubt it's something with my colon but am also doubting it's herpes. An outbreak should only last at most 4 weeks and I'm going on 3 months now. That and they go away and come back within the same day. I'm just really frustrated and don't know what I should do next. I've even tried some home remedies like soaking in a warm bath of epsom salt, tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar and it helps with the itching but nothing seems to keep the bumps from coming back after they heal :(

Please if anyone has an advice or what I can try please let me know... this is really hurting my sex life (or lack there of) in my marriage... :( Tweet
