Help: Myopia Greater than -10 Diopters

Hello to all,

Ever since I can remember I've had extremely horrible vision. I think I got my first pair of glasses around age 3 when my mother had noticed I was always looking at my toys and books from about 3 to 4 inches away from my face.

I'm 24 now and ever since my first pair of glasses the prescriptions have done nothing but gotten stronger. I think I'm up to around -10 or -11 now and they tell me that I have a very strong Astigmatism (not sure the degree, I just know it's BAD)

I went in to check about LASIK surgery and they told me that I don't even have enough Corneal tissue to perform the operation to that level of correction! They said that I would have to get ICLs (Inter Corneal Lenses) installed first and then they could do a light amount of LASIK on top for anything the ICL's didn't correct. I was about 20 at the time and they told me to wait until I'm 25 to even get it done. They didn't appear really confident in what they were saying to me probably because they don't usually come across someone with as bad of eyes as me. So scratch that idea. :)

Have you ever heard of anybody who's had vision as bad or worse than mine who has corrected it using natural means?

I believe it can be done, I'm just extremely confused as to what steps should be taken as I'm sure this is going to be a longer journey than for most peoples eye problems.

I also just purchased "Relearning to See" by Thomas Quackenbush and a pair of pinhole glasses that should supposedly help me along the path.

So, has anybody out there been here before who wouldn't mind helping me out or at least pointing me in the right direction of somebody they know who has?

You can email me at jamiesimko@gmail.com or call me at 951.223.1240.

Thank you so much! :)

- Jamie
