Re: How I broke my 25 day water fast

"I'll be having some of that soup throughout the week. I need it because I'm anemic and lentils are one of the best sources for iron. After I ate it, I felt really bloated. This is my first real hot 'meal' and maybe that's why? Do you guys think what I ate so far is good? Bad? Please, I would appreciate ANY input from you :)"

Hi 117496,

I believe you are doing famously and the vast majority of what you are eating is great. I don't think there is any problem with hot soup at all... i have enjoyed cooked juices very soon after breaking long fasts with only the most harmonious results and several days later vitamixed vegetable soups.

On the other hand, it has been my experience that legumes can be extraordinarily bloating soon after breaking a fast... perhaps more so than any other food... so i'd put my finger on the lentils. I mean i NEVER bloat, but beans several days after a long fast made my belly bloat up like a pufferfish. If it was me i would back off on them until your body is better prepared to digest them. In the meantime, there are several iron rich vegetables and fruits that can be enjoyed including Watermelon which is an amazing source:

"List of Vegetables [and fruits] Rich in Iron:

◦Broccoli, ½ cup, boiled 0.7 mg
◦Green beans, ½ cup, boiled 0.8 mg
◦Lima beans, baby, frozen, ½ cup, boiled 1.8 mg
◦Beets, 1 cup 1.8 mg
◦Peas, ½ cup frozen, boiled 1.3 mg
◦Potato, fresh baked, cooked w/skin on 4.0 mg
◦Vegetables, green leafy, ½ cup 2.0 mg
◦Watermelon, 6 inch x ½ inch slice 3.0 mg"
