The doc you talked to sounds like a charlatan. All you really need to determine course of action of adrenal fatigue is:
1) 24 hr cortisol saliva test
2) DHEA level
If indicated: renin, sodium and other minerals like potassium and magnesium
Nice to have but not necessary in the beginning: sex hormone panel
A complete 24hr saliva test will test cortisol, dhea and sex hormones.
