Re: Need "Kindly" advice (please no bashing) somewhat food/ED related
hi #130758, you wrote: "apparently there is also such thing as a subjective binge."
:-) i came to the realisation years ago that the whole human condition is a subjective binge ;-) and that most of time i was mentally and emotionally having myself on.
so i decided to *look* at what was *actually* happening. thats when i discovered my binging wasn't out of control at all, i was subjectively playing games with myself and 'letting' something happen that primates have done for millions of years after going days without food, i was 'naturally' and harmlessly feasting on ...not quite TO much ;-)
so i decided to treat my subjective self like a mischievous child. if it wasn't going to play ball and help the body refeed gradually after a 24 hour fast or a long cleansing one then i should either roll with it and enjoy the pending feast or not fast at all.
since the temptation to feast (for me) was usually too delightful to resist around the 5th day of refeeding, i now make sure to eat healthily and *sufficiently* each day, so the need to fast is much less and the urge to binge is much easier to manage. it never completely goes away because i also realised another another thing was *actually happening*. this body now has access to more varied and tasty foods than any cave man ever had. no crime there either.
so basically when i stopped beating myself up subjectively about what i *thought* was happening and looked at what was *actually* happening instead, i realised that if let go of the reigns (more often) and stop trying to subjectively run the show (all the time) the body took over. and whattayaknow it gives me a comfortable ride, is so much wiser than me and doesn't beat itself up like i do. in fact these days my subjective self is becoming ...well...pretty redundant ;-) and i prefer the body's magical *actual* world any day (and the *occasional* feast of course).
cheers :-)
