Re: throw it out now!

Hello Mark27,

I have a little different view on this...

Chlorine dioxide is very effective at killing mold. I have recovered furniture by building a tent of plastic over it. It is important to use a frame work so the plastic is not touching the furniture. Then set a chlorine dioxide solution inside the tent and let it work for 24 hours. After this, take your hepa vacuum and clean up all the dead spores.

This is also effective with clothes and books and other household items.

If you have the chemicals, you can make your own, or if you don't check into the RoomShocker product.

It is a fair amount of work doing all of this, and there is some risk of exposure to chlorine dioxide, so you may just want to avoid all of this and throw everything out and start over...

Chlorine dioxide is more effective than ozone in this application because of its penetrating ability and its ability to work in very low concentrations. Ozone will work, but at the concentration needed to be effective it will also break down the materials you are trying to get the mold out of.

Tom
