Mold in Furniture?

Hi,
I just recently moved out of a place that had a penicillium mold problem. It was really bad while I was in my old place and we actually had to abandon it for a few months and stay with friends until we could find a new place to live.

We're now in our new place, the only concern is that we brought all our furniture with us (couch, matress) and I am noticing I am starting to develop similar symptoms like when we were living in our old place. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the old mold spores that are trapped in our old furniture. My question is, is it possible to use a good vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter to clean the furniture out or should we throw it all out and start over with new stuff.
