Re: Powerful Natural Liver Detox
Yes, about 6 years.
And I had the same reaction during my first class - bored to tears. It didn't fit with what I considered exercise - running, swimming jumping around. But it's a great adjunct to those activities. Just as challenging yet smaller, quieter.
It helped me through a period of depression, I believe it sped up the process. Some positions can wring out the emotions as well as the organs and it's not uncommon to cry a little (no, not in boredom) during or after a certain position.
May not be easy where you live but if you can find the right class, you might get hooked. I think that's the best way to start rather than by yourself with a book. Once you get some training in class, the books are good.
It's all about the instructor. Not only their expertise but a certain gentleness of spirit that a good one possesses. Challenging yet supportive and as interested in the spiritual aspects of yoga as the physical.
And persons of a certain age can use all the flexibility they can get.
