my guess...

obama just came on and said even if they cant kill the well, the capping system will let them contain all the oil.
All that oil sitting down there is just making bp crazy, and costing them money.
My guess is the cap isnt going to kill the well completely(even if it could! wink, wink), they'll have to release the oil to the surface.
If the cap kill was sufficient, questions would be raised as to why they just dont leave it that way. The relief wells are designed to provide a secondary means of collecting the oil.
