could traumatic fall cause Costochondritis

a little over a year ago I had the nastiest bike fall ever. I hit a curb with my front tire which bent the whole wheel, I flipped over my handlebars, It all happened so fast before I knew it I was on the ground. Then I saw this bulge under my pants and blood dripping onto the pavement, I peeked under my pants and almost barfed, there was all this fat just hanging out of my leg. I called 911, they gave me 150mcg fentanyl on the way to the hosp, and I ended up needing to go the OR and be put under general so they could clean it out. They put 2 layers of stitches, a row of staples and I had a drain in for a week to drain the fluid. shortly after that, I began to develop this "swollen" area under my left breast and a smaller one under my right, everyone just thinks its fat cuz I have gained a lot of weight recently, but it is extremely tender when the doctors press on it and mmost other times it just aches really bad, when I breathe, turn around etc. No doctor ever mentioned Costochondritis but when I did some research, I kept coming across it and it makes the most sense. I honestly dont remember the fall at all, I dont remember hitting anything it was just like I was riding my bike and then I was on the ground. I am not posting a link to this picture to gross anyone out, but only to illustrate the severity of the fall. If you have eaten, or tend to be squeemish, DO NOT click on the link below. Anyway I was wondering if a traumatic impact such as this might trigger Costochondritis, and what can I do about it? Thanks.
