Re: day one of many
I think that is also why I tried fasting for weight loss: I didn't have to make "choices" about food. After multiple tries in the past couple of months, I realized my heart and head were just not in a "diet" mindset, so I turned to fasting. No choices, no measuring, no thinking about the next meal because the last one was so small! You just simply can't eat ANYTHING.
Good luck, and keep it up. That thing about "will this get me closer to my goal or further away?" is a good one to walk around with - write it down and put it in your purse, whip it out when you are at the store or feeling weak.
Another good one is, "You can eat it tomorrow, don't eat it today, wait until tomorrow." That one is also helpful. It's like giving yourself "permission" to eat it, just not right then. And then when tomorrow comes, you start another day of fasting and put it off again. The psychological twist on that one is that you aren't "depriving" yourself because you are giving yourself the opportunity to have it later, just not now.
