Re: 1st Pregnancy

A raw diet is a wonderful way to maintain a healthy pregnancy as long as you make sure you are taking in enough greens, fresh fruits, vegetables and fats in the form of nuts and oils. It is important to keep your proteins, sugars and fats balanced in order to provide the growing fetus with everything he or she needs in order to develop correctly. At 5'6", depending on bone structure and muscle mass, your ideal weight is somewhere around 130 to 140 lbs, so you should not lose much more weight with the pregnancy. It is not unusual to lose some weight in the first trimester, but then you should have a steady weight gain.

I'm not very familiar with the midwives in Salt Lake county, but you can get a list of the ones available by contacting the Utah Midwives Association. Then, I would start interviewing them to see which ones have the same belief system you do. Once you have narrowed it down, then I would ask for references and talk to some of the women they have delivered to see what their personal experiences were like under the care of the midwife.

Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you will enjoy this exciting new adventure in your life - take time to smell the roses and cherish the small moments.
