Re: Copper and Candida

I found this bit of research about copper and Candida. Injecting mice with copper seemed to encourage hyphal Candida growth.

"Injection of copper into mice permitted the filamentous phase to be as virulent as the yeast phase. In subsequent studies on candidosis, copper assays should be performed on relevant body fluids to determine if there might be a correlation between elevated copper and heightened susceptibility to the fungus."

In the body zinc and copper are natural antagonists. The more you have of one the less you have of the other. I'm starting to think that candidiasis may be linked to high copper and low zinc. It has already been shown in research that those with candidiasis have lower zinc than normal. Perhaps they also have higher copper, or at least higher copper in the mucus membranes.
