I found this bit of research about copper and Candida. Injecting mice with copper seemed to encourage hyphal Candida growth.

In the body zinc and copper are natural antagonists. The more you have of one the less you have of the other. I'm starting to think that candidiasis may be linked to high copper and low zinc. It has already been shown in research that those with candidiasis have lower zinc than normal. Perhaps they also have higher copper, or at least higher copper in the mucus membranes.
